Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Massage
The main purpose of sports massage and deep tissue massage is to help reduce stress and tension which can build up in the body during physical activity. At Four Health we treat patients with massage from diverse backgrounds ranging from pro athletes to desk-based workers. Massage can also help with tensions and pain in your body’s soft tissues as a result of emotional stress, postural issues and sports injuries.
Chronic Pain Management
Jonathan is trained in an approach called OsteoMAP, which integrates new developments in mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches to pain with ‘hands on’ osteopathic treatment. OsteoMAP is designed to support people with long-term musculoskeletal pain, which may be alleviated but is unlikely to be completely resolved by manual therapy alone. It aims to help people with pain find their own pathways to living a more fulfilling life, despite on-going symptoms. OsteoMAP is based on the ‘third wave’ Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches currently used in group-based pain management programmes within the NHS.
Kinesio Taping is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It is used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical conditions.
It can be very useful when symptoms are quite acute or if you need help/support of joints or tissues when taking part in a sporting event.
Functional technique is one of the most gentle types of treatment used by an osteopath. It can be particularly useful if patients are in acute pain and movement is very limited.
The concept of the technique is to take the body’s tissues to a position of ease, allowing them to settle and encouraging a reduction in symptoms and pain.
