Headaches

There are many different types of headaches. The most common are tension, migraines and cervico-genic.

Tension and cervico-genic headaches are responsible for over eighty percent of all headache presentations. They arise from the neck, and are caused by tension or strain in the muscles and joints of the neck and upper back.

Gentle massage to the tight muscles and manipulation to loosen the joints of the neck, thorax and back can relieve the build-up of muscular tension that may lead to headaches. Osteopaths can also advise on exercise and lifestyle changes and offer guidance on simple changes to your posture when at work or driving which may help relieve your symptoms.

A detailed case history will help your osteopath understand what type of headache you may be suffering with and will aid us in our treatment approach.
